The India A pacers were made to toil hard on Day 2 in Northampton in the second four-day game after scoring 348 in the first innings against England Lions. The Lions are batting at 192/3 in 46 overs after bad light forced the play to end early. Earlier, India A's innings ended quickly on the second morning after Josh Tongue dismissed Tanush Kotian and Anshul Kamboj early.
However, when the Lions came out to bat, they were made to face the music as well, as Anshul Kamboj bowled six overs on the trot and challenged both the edges of openers Tom Haines and Ben McKinney with his bowling. He was looking to set up the batters and drew multiple false shots from them by bowling in the corridor of uncertainty. He was eventually rewarded by the wicket of Ben McKinney, who was out caught behind.
However, the other India A pacers looked a bit lacklustre despite bowling well in patches. Shardul Thakur bowled multiple no-balls and also dropped a catch off his own bowling, showing a lack of rhythm. Tushar Deshpande proved expensive as he leaked runs at more than five runs per over, despite getting Haines caught behind on 54 before Tea. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy was also a tad bit expensive and gave away 25 runs in his six overs.
Emilio Gay was the best batter for the Lions as he looked untroubled for most of his stay and scored 71 off 117 deliveries before being dismissed leg before wicket by Kotian in what turned out to be the last over of the day. Jordan Cox (31* off 51) and skipper Jonathan Rew are at the crease at the moment for the Lions, with the latter yet to open his account.
