On Thursday, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) named 31-year-old Jos Buttler as the new captain of the white-ball sides. For the extended white-ball series against India, England have named a 14-man T20I squad and a 15-man ODI squad. In one of the big news, England’s red-ball skipper, Ben Stokes returns to the ODI setup for the first time since the series against Pakistan.
Lancashire’s Richard Gleeson, Tymal Mills, David Willey. and Chris Jordan all find a place in the T20I squad. It is Gleeson's first appearance in the English setup. In the absence of Adil Rashid, who has been given permission by the ECB to miss both series to make The Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca, leg-spinner Matt Parkinson finds a place in the squad.
Yorkshire’s Harry Brook is part of both the setups, alongside the regular stars in the likes of Moeen Ali, Jason Roy and skipper, Buttler himself. Phil Salt, who scored a sensational century against Netherlands too finds a place in both the squads.
The first T20I between the two sides begins on July 7 (Thursday) with the decider on July 10, before the ODI series starts on July 12.
