IPL 2025: Delhi Capitals Replace Jake Fraser-McGurk With Mustafizur Rahman

Fraser-McGurk informed DC that he won’t be coming back for the remaining IPL 2025 games

Delhi Capitals (DC) have replaced Jake Fraser-McGurk with Bangladesh’s left-arm seamer Mustafizur Rahman for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Mustafizur joins DC for INR 6 crore.

Earlier today, Fraser-McGurk informed the franchise that he won’t be coming back for the remaining IPL 2025 games. Fraser-McGurk, who had a phenomenal IPL 2024 and was bought for INR 9 crore in the 2025 auction, was having a terrible tournament before it got suspended.

The right-handed batter managed only 55 runs in six innings at an average of 9.16 and a strike rate of just over 100, and was eventually dropped from the playing XI.

Meanwhile, Mustafizur has played 57 IPL games and claimed 61 wickets at an economy of 8.14. He was part of the DC set-up in 2022 and 2023, but featured in only 10 games and picked up nine wickets.

JFM’s absence won’t bother DC too much, but they are also waiting to hear from Mitchell Starc, Faf du Plessis and Tristan Stubbs. Mustafizur will also serve as a backup for Starc.

There have been reports suggesting that Starc won’t return for the remaining games, while Stubbs has been named in the South African squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia. Cricket South Africa wants all its players to return by May 26.

The IPL 2025 is set to resume on May 17 (Saturday) and DC are one of the teams that could qualify for the playoffs. They have won six of their 11 games and are currently at No.5 on the IPL 2025 points table.

The Capitals are scheduled to take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in Delhi on May 18 (Sunday).
