In what’s been a completely bowler-dominated World Test Championship (WTC) Final between Australia and South Africa, it took a whopping 547 balls for the first six of the finale.
Australia possess big-hitters like Cameron Green, Beau Webster and Travis Head, while South Africa also have the likes of Ryan Rickelton and Tristan Stubbs, but the deadlock was broken by an unlikely candidate in Temba Bavuma.
That’s right, the Proteas skipper showcased his full batting range as after scoring just 3 runs off 37 balls on day one, he came out with intent and then eventually hit the first six of the final, thumping his counterpart Pat Cummins for a huge six over mid-wicket in the 35th over of the second innings.
It was a sight to behold, as it was a majestic hit, but the real fun began once the ball crossed the boundary rope.
For one, Bavuma was caught in the crowd by a spectator, who took the catch like a pro and celebrated afterwards, throwing his hands up in the air. But what was even better was that the spectator was a doppelganger of the Aussie skipper, Cummins.
But Cummins got his revenge eventually, as he dismissed Bavuma for 36, courtesy a fantastic catch from Marnus Labuschagne.
